Kerry makes a great dad because it comes naturally to him. He has compassion for humans and animals and cares about people on a real personal level. Kerry's enthusiasm for life is exciting. He is extremely witty and if I'm caught off guard he can make me buckle at the knees with his insightful humor.
Kerry is a true outdoorsman. He loves all sports, it brings out the kid in him. I look forward to the days when he can play tennis with Andrew or baseball or sailing. We bike together now in the park with Andrew on the bike seat and it is a great way to spend a Saturday together as a family.
Kerry loves to spend time with Andrew. It is his top priority. When Andrew was an infant Kerry shared feedings and diaper changing. Kerry is a family man. He adores his son. When we read Andrew books in bed at night I love listening to Kerry act out the different characters in the stories. He has a gift for making even the smallest moments feel important and worth savoring. He doesn't just go through the motions of living, he is there, immersed in it. Life is a compilation of one small moment after the other.
Last night Kerry came home from work and Andrew heard the key turning in the door. He jumped off his bed, ran down the stairs, dived into Kerry's arms and gave him the best bear hug a child could have the strength for. Andrew adores his daddy.
A boy with a great Dad can do great things. Andrew is lucky to have such a great Dad.
Lisa is a good mother because she is a kind, loving, and sensitive person. She genuinely enjoys taking care of the people she loves, creating a warm, comfortable, and beautiful home.
Lisa is a good mother because she is a fun person to be with. She has a great sense of humor and a hearty laugh that bursts out of her and fills a room with unrestrained joy. She has a quick wit, often finding humor and irony in life's beautiful, sad, and miraculous moments. In short, Lisa enjoys life.
Lisa is a good mother because she is an honest person who always deals with other people in a frank and honest manner. To use an over used phrase, she is a "real person." And not only is she real with other people, but she is real to herself as well. She is aware of her faults as well as her strengths and she suffers no delusions about either. Andrew will learn alot from her example.
Lisa is a good mother because she is creative. She is creative in the usual sense, filling our home with beautiful paintings, photographs, and crafts. She is creative in play, constantly inventing new games to play with Andrew. Yet Lisa is also creative in love as well, always finding new and amazing ways to show her love for Andrew and me. For example, any morning that Lisa leaves the house before Andrew is awake, she writes him a little letter and places it in his very own mail box. I can't believe she thought of that. He loves the letters.
I look forward to seeing her express her love for another child in our home. I know it will show in a thousand different ways.
