Hi, I'm Marilena, 35 years old, and have dreamed of having a family since I was a little girl. Because of my husband's premature passing, I am unable to have a traditional family.
However, my love and desire to become a caring mom has happily led me to adoption.
I would like you to know how much I respect your choice of giving your child the chance to be loved and cared for through adoption. I truly admire the courage of your decision and your love for your child.
My family and friends describe me as a selfless person with a big heart and positive attitude. I am outgoing, friendly, and compassionate. I have grown strong and learned from tough times, and appreciate what I have and can do. I have a place in my heart ready to be filled with the love for a child. I love being with children, playing and helping them to grow. I also love animals, dogs in particular. I am passionate in what I do and what I believe in. I can be perseverant but also understanding and respectful of other people's opinions. I like challenges as they help me improve myself.
I was born and raised in Italy, in a beautiful town below the Alps called Vicenza. My culture is rich in art, history, music, fashion and good food. I was raised Catholic, and appreciative of life and family.
When I moved to the U.S. at age 26, I lived in Clarksville, TN, where I earned a Bachelor degree in Foreign Languages, and became an American citizen. I have also kept my Italian citizenship.
In Clarksville, I also met my husband Jim, a soldier from California. After dating for two years, he proposed while on deployment in Iraq. Upon his return we got married, and moved to Germany. Jim was deployed to Iraq for a second time. He was killed on our 9 month anniversary. I moved to Southern California a little over a year ago. I'm now moving forward in accomplishing my life goals. I volunteer as a third grade teacher's assistant while pursuing my teaching credentials. I look forward to becoming an elementary school teacher.
All my family and friends are excited about my decision to adopt a child. My loving parents live in Vicenza, Italy, close to my sister, Katia. They come to the US to visit me, and I go to Italy to visit them every year. Katia and her husband, Danny, have two children, Justin (age 5) and Jocelyn (age 4). Both my nephew and niece have dual citizenship, and speak both English and Italian.
My father-in-law, Lee lives at about 30 minutes from my home. We are very close, and
visit with each other every week. Lee was a proud single parent and is willing to provide support to me with my venture as a single parent.
I have great support and help from my dear friends Jeremy and Jessica along with their parents and siblings. I consider my friend and neighbor Natha part of my extended family. She is like a big sister to me, and is my dog-sitter when I travel. I have three beautiful Akitas that I have raised since they were puppies, and consider them as family. Their names are Bobo, Bianca and Stridola. |
I live in a pretty house in a growing new community in Menifee, CA. My home is comfortable with lots of room waiting for a little one. My family oriented neighborhood is safe, well kept, and in walking distance to parks, schools, and shopping centers. I live a short driving distance to San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino mountains.
I am an intellectual open to adventure! I enjoy reading books, and watching game shows on TV. I also like movies, music, traveling, as well as experiencing new types of food and cultures. I have always been fascinated with foreign languages. I speak Italian, English, French and German. I love to cook, especially Italian cuisine, I love to swim, ski and play volleyball. Most of all I enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my dogs.
I am working with a wonderful agency, Kinship Center. My social worker has completed an extensive study of me and my home to ensure care and safety for a child. I look forward to sharing my love with a child. I want to provide the best possible education and offer a variety of fun activities. I am glad to have the resources that allow me to stay at home for the first years of my child's life. I will have the opportunity to devote my energies to caring for the child. I would love to have an open adoption relationship with you, and I'm flexible on the amount and type of contact you may desire.
Thank you for taking the time to read this profile and consider me as adoptive parent to your child. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly or Kinship Center at the phone numbers or emails listed below.
