Adoptive parents usually research several different organizations prior to making a decision as to which agency is best for them. The cost of adoption is, of course a major consideration. There are many steps in the process where fees are charged and expenses are incurred. When comparing costs and planning your budget, it is important to take care to determine how all of these expenses are covered. Do you pay them directly on are they covered in a program fee? Niños Del Mundo fee schedule attempts to identify all known cost categories and explains how they are paid.

Assistance with USCIS forms and procedures, assistance in locating
a local Home Study, Dossier preparation, Dossier documents sent to
your Secretary of State's Office for certification, translation of Dossier
into Spanish, Dossier presented to Guatemala Embassy/Consulate for authentication, child search based upon your criteria, Referral of child, adoption coordination in Guatemala, in-country assistance, and travel assistance.

| 4. HOME STUDY
If you have not already done so, Niños del Mundo will assist you in
locating a local agency to provide you with this service. The selected
agency must be licensed in your state to perform a Home Study for
international adoptions

| 5. DNA TESTING
The DNA sample must be taken of the child and birthmother. It is
then required by law to be sent to a laboratory in the United States
for processing and authentication.

| 6. INTERNATIONAL FEES
Guatemala attorney's fees, registration fees, legalization of your Dossier,
foster care for your child during adoption process, formula, diapers and
clothing for your child, monthly medical exams and vaccinations,
updated photos sent via email at least once a month, updates on height,
weight and other developments at least monthly, medical exam by US
certified panel physician in Guatemala, document certification and translation back into English, child's passport, child's new birth certificate, escorting you through the final adoption process to get your child's Visa.

Roundtrip air fare from your home to Guatemala City will, of course, vary depending upon where you live. Web Sites like www.travelocity.com can give you an immediate price quote. Hotels are very reasonably priced by US standards. Niños del Mundo will assist you in locating accommodations that are within your travel budget.

Adoptive families whose annual adjusted gross income is under $150,000. the IRS Adoption Tax Credit will repay up to $10,630 per child for expenses incurred in your adoption (www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8839.pdf). This helps dramatically to offset the relatively high costs of international adoption.
