The most exciting event in the entire adoption process is the trip to Guatemala to pick-up your new child. You will receive your child very soon after arriving in Guatemala because the child is already legally yours. The adoption will have been completed through your Power of Attorney. The only step left in the process is obtaining your child's Visa. Because of this, the trip usually averages only 3 days. Niños del Mundo representatives will assist you in locating your accommodations, and you will be united with your child as soon as possible. If you desire, a meeting will be arranged with the foster parents who cared for your child during the adoption process. You will be escorted to the final meetings of the adoption process and will be assisted with anything else you may need. Travel to Guatemala requires that you have a Passport. A visa is not required for trips of 90 days or less. Flying there is easy, usually requiring a change of planes in Miami, Atlanta or Dallas before continuing to Guatemala City. There are many nice hotels conveniently located to both the airport and your appointments in Guatemala City with the USCIS and the US embassy. Before you leave home, Niños del Mundo will provide you with a detailed itinerary of your trip. We will arrange your appointments, attend each appointment with you and provide translation services if needed, help complete all paperwork and answer any questions that you may have. Additionally, we will provide you travel tips that will help you decide what to pack for yourself and your new baby.
