Parenting Adopted Children
Ask any adoptive parent and they will tell you that parenting brings them countless joys! There is nothing as wonderful as watching your child explore, learn and grow into the amazing person they were meant to be.
Parenting adopted children can also present issues that may be different from parenting birth children. Most adopted children, even those adopted at birth, will experience loss and questioning at different times in their lives. Some children will have issues with attachement or post traumatic stress, while others will have learning challenges or health issues.
Our children are unique and wonderful! Our hope in this area of Adopting.com is to offer adoptive parents the resources and support they need to be the best parents they can be to their kids. Those needs will change as your children enter school, during the teen years, and as they move into young adulthood. We hope that these resources will help you and your children as you travel the pathway that leads beyond adoption.
